Birthday

What is a birthday?

A day to count your blessings one by one

the gratefulness of one's survival

or the submission to more sorrows?

Is it the anguish of getting closer to the finishing line

or the faithfulness of seizing one more chance?

Is it the wisdom gained throughout

or the fear of becoming even more ridiculous and weaker?

And as the days go by, I realize

it is yet a loud request to make this day count,

it is the awareness of being here for more than one reason.

So for my birthday, this year,

I have decided to be still and know that you are God.
