Completed Anthology Announcement

Exciting news about the outcome of my Spring 2026 sabbatical. I completed an anthology I have been thinking about for years, a collection of Sicilian women writers and their literary accomplishments.

Drafts often begin as scattered notes before they find their form.

The anthology is now complete

Completing an anthology is a different kind of milestone from publishing a single piece. A single work asks for focus. An anthology asks for focus and relationship. Each selection must matter on its own, but it must also belong to the whole.

The word “completed” carries real weight here. It means the pieces have been gathered. It means the structure has been shaped. It means the order has been considered carefully. It means the larger movement of the book now has a beginning, middle, and end. It means the anthology has crossed from an idea into a finished manuscript.

An anthology is built through choices. What should open the collection? What should close it? (My answer has been chronological) Which pieces echo each other? Which ones create contrast? What belongs, and what must be left out even if it is valued?

Those questions shaped the final manuscript.

Completing the anthology means that part of the work is done. The manuscript now stands as a whole.

Now, with the anthology complete, I can finally see its full shape.

Sequencing an anthology means listening for how each piece speaks to the next.

What comes next for the anthology

Now that the anthology is complete, the next phase begins.

The manuscript will move toward the steps that bring a completed collection closer to publication. That may include final production work, copy-edits, design stages, scheduling, and preparation for release. Some of that work is visible. Much of it happens quietly.

As more information becomes available, I look forward to sharing updates about the anthology’s publication path. That may include details about availability, release timing, ordering information, readings, or related events. For now, the most important news is that the manuscript itself is complete.

The forthcoming anthology has been a meaningful project to complete. I am grateful for the time it required and for the impact it will eventually offer, particularly for Sicilian women and Sicily, and the recognition it deserves in schools and academic settings, as these women writers are to be read, studied, and named among their male counterparts.

Finished work eventually makes its way toward readers.

Looking ahead with gratitude

We are looking at an early start in 2027 with some readings in Italy in summer.

There will be more to share as the anthology moves closer to publication. For now, I simply want to recognize the milestone. Seeing new work published is a reminder that the long private labor of writing can become a public offering.
