April in Sicily offers a unique blend of warm sunlight, gentle sea breezes, and a rich cultural backdrop that makes it an ideal time to immerse myself in books. This year, I have set specific reading commitments to make the most of my time on this beautiful Mediterranean island. My goal is read/present my novel Il coraggio di dire, and to complete an anthology I am working on.
Here is the schedule of my presentations:
APRIL 10 - Caltagirone. It was a wonderful presentation of my novel with a fantastic group of young people with many questions and concerns;
APRIL 25 - Catania. I was delighted to lead a writing workshop, Le donne si raccontano, at the Catania Book Festival. The group of 7 women who sat with me and worked on their writing assignments inspired me and enriched my teaching and writing experience.
APRIL 26 - Catania. I presented my novel assisted by the wonderful Nadia Bramante from Ipazia Siracusa who asked me some questions, highlighted some parts of the book and facilitated the dialogue with the Sicilian women and men who wanted to delve into this important topic. My publisher was in attendance and I signed some copies for special people who will treasure the book and share it with their loved ones. Thank you all.

How Sicily Enhances the Reading and Writing Experience
The island’s sensory richness adds layers of meaning to what I read and write. The scent of citrus groves, the sound of waves, and the sight of ancient ruins create a backdrop that brings stories to life.
Sicily’s slower pace encourages deep focus and reflection, allowing me to savor the narratives fully. The combination of natural beauty and cultural depth makes reading here a unique and rewarding activity.
